BLADNOCH 87 & PORT ELLEN 75
Bladnoch, the most southern of all Scotland's distilleries, has been silent since 1993. It was bought a year later by its actual owner. A visitor center and an Internet website opened in 1998 bring hope that one day, the distillery might reopen. - Established in 1825, Port Ellen was in the mid-XIXth century the first distillery to export its malt to the United States. Closed between 1929 and 1966, it doubled its production capacity in 1967.

Established in 1846, Caol Ila, which means "the Islay's detroit", is facing the Jura island. Completely rebuilt in 1974, the new and very functional distillery tripled its production capacity. Most of the malt produced at Caol Ila is destined to blends.
