Established in 1846, Caol Ila, which means "the Islay's detroit", is facing the Jura island. Completely rebuilt in 1974, the new and very functional distillery tripled its production capacity. Most of the malt produced at Caol Ila is destined to blends. It is particularly used in the Johnnie Walker blend.
