Ironically, the canadian whisky father is an american. Hiram Walker was born in 1816 in Douglas, Massachusetts. In 1858, after he made his fortune in the grain and vinegar industries, he then decided to create his own production unit, including a distillery and a flour mill, in Canada, near the city of Windsor. Very quickly, he gave a light and fruity style to whisky, which the most perfect example was created in 1884 when he created the Canadian Club brand. The distillery that now bears his name is a part of the british group Allied Domecq. |
