Established in 1880, Bunnahabain, which means "mouth of the river", was builted following the plans of a Bordeaux castle. Put temporarely to sleep in 1983, it was more fortunate than the Port Ellen distillery, definitively closed the same year. Its malt is used in the renowned "Famous Grouse" blend.
