Created in 1892 under the name Glen Gordon, Balvenie was the second distillery built by William Grant, after Glenfiddich in 1887. Its stills originated from the Lagavulin and Glen Albyn distilleries. Balvenie has in its storehouses some very old casks dating from the 1930's. In 1991, a new distillery named Kininvie was created on the same site.
