Created in 1893, Knockdhu was the first distillery built by the D.C.L. at the end of the XIXth century, at the peak of the crisis between blenders and malt producers. Between 1940 and 1945, it was occupied by an army indian unit. Its single malt was renamed An Cnoc in 1994 in order to avoid any confusion with the famous Knockando.
